Letter sent by Mr. Reginald E. Firminger to the colonial Governor, 30th April 1889, detailing the findings of his investigation into the
state of the internal slave trade in the Gold Coast in 1889.
Officially slavery had been abolished many years before, but this
letter shows that it still existed in many places and that there
was active trade in slaves. Details of the routes used and
marketing are given.
